Google Rumored to Be in Talks to Acquire Whatsapp

For  $1 Billion !!!!

Yes !! u heard it right. The hugely popular social media app WhatsApp may soon become a part of Google. The reports hearing from an inside source that Google has been in talks to buy the messaging app for the past few weeks and the current offer is said to be “close to” $1 billion.

Google is rumored to be working on Babel, a mobile messaging app that unifies various communication services under one umbrella. WhatsApp is the most popular mobile instant messengers, ahead of rivals like Viber, Kik, WeChat, Nimbuzz etc. It is among the top paid apps in over 100 countries and charges $0.99 for annual ad-free subscription.

WhatsApp is the most popular of a new crop of mobile messaging apps that some say pose a threat to bigger companies like Facebook and Google. The app, which lets users send messages for free across smartphone platforms, launched in 2009 and has tens of millions of users. It’s currently the No. 1 app in Apple’s App Store in dozens of countries, according to data from AppAnnie, and it has been downloaded more than 100 million times on Google Play.

WhatsApp is a cross-platform mobile messaging app: It sends messages to anyone on iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, or Windows Phone via an iMessage-like network. The messages use your data plan, not text, and require that both sender and receiver have WhatsApp, which, of course, makes the service inherently viral. Perhaps 300 million WhatsApp users send hundreds of billions of messages daily.

One question which flicker in my mind is WhatsApp really worth a billion dollars?? It is just another messaging service app.

What is your opinion people? Let me know in comments. !!

Thanks 🙂

I don’t create a comment, however after reading a ton of responses on Whatsapp is going in Google Pocket | prabhanshu03. I actually do have some questions for you if you do not mind. Is it just me or do some of the comments come across like they are written by brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing at other sites, I’d
like to keep up with anything fresh you have to post.
Would you make a list of the complete urls of all your public pages like your linkedin profile, Facebook page or twitter feed?
